Your website is good.It gives us an arm-chaired travellogue of the country we love. However, this can happen only when the country is at peace and progressing. The situation in Myanmar/Burma is at present depressing.I fully agree with Khin Ma's opinion stated in your column.you can do it!

Well... U are doing good deeds for some schools.
That's great! Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu.

Could you please kindly think of something to bring up the burma education system rather than donating some money to 1 or 2 schools only?
Since we have so many schools in burma and so many of students are suffering not only in education but also in morality, thinking process and belief. Generally, our Country is suffering down spiral syndrome. System with bad economy, education, corruption, lack of trust and bribery obviously has been deteriorating the living standards, morale and integrity of people. Those people are also down grading the system in turn. That keeps us bringing down our country and people.
I believe you can do more efficient and effective work for burma than us because u're now currently working in UN. I hope that u do have tremendous chances to help in resolving our burma problems.
Please look into it and I believe the ball is in ur hand. If u are well organised and united, u'll be playing in the crucial part of upbringing our country and people. THAT'S NOT THIS JUNTA GOVERNMENT JOBS.THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED EITHER. THAT HAS TO BE OUR JOB AS WELL AS YOUR JOB.
Let us count on you!
May u be healthy, wealthy and wise...

What do you mean by a Myanmar/Burmese? Can a Myanmar citizen, but not Burmese, become a member of your association? What are the advantages for the member of the organization? Please provide the answers. Thank you very much.

I read your website regularly especially the Guest Book.It is interesting to know what other people say of us.Recently I went to Damai beach ,north of Kuching for a workshop and all the participants were saying that the next century is the age of e-mail,e-commerce and e-schools-evrything electronic! Without it, a country will be left behind .Unfortunately Burma does not have e-mail and internet at present. How can we cope with the future? How can we catch up with other nations? How can you help?

Your Association sounds like "official ". We had
Myanmar Association(UK) in London sponsored by H.E.the Burmese ambassador long ago.Is your "Association" similar to it? Wy do you choose Myanmar over Burma which is English and well-known.The Chinese and Indians still use China and India in English. I don't feel comfortable with the word " Myanmar" because few people know outside our country.Your description of our history and culture is similar to official version as described in the Golden Land website of the present government. One cheer for you!

I think you would attract more members if you change your name to Burmese Association. We respect your right to choose whatever name that pleases you but at the same time, given the background of how the word Myanmar came about in reference to our country,I do'nt think the name you had chosen for your associaton is appropriate if you are not pro SPDC. In Australia, we insist the Government not to use the word Myanmar in any official reference to Burma. They understand our concern and to this day our country is still being referred to as Burma by the Australian Government.

It is a very impressive site but I hope it is not controlor funded by SPDC from behind. The name Myanmar disturb me a little bit since it is use by the military without consultation with the people. But we live in a democratic soiety, so one has the right to choose whatever they think is good.

Hope all the money you raised did not fall into Khin Nyunt's pocket. If is not I do respect the work you are doing. Thanks.

Basically, I like it. I like the 3D look of the letters. Two pictures of the page may be part of the culture (Symbol) of the page of Myanmar Association Inc. in the long run. If you put "New" or "Current News" or "Current Event" blinking by the side of "Myanmar Food Festival", I think, people will get more attention on our current event which we want to get more attention. Of coure, we can add some other features in the site such as member list when we get data.

By the way, Shweinc.com itself is very good. It is base on the real needs of the people and I believe it will survive and may be you will make money out of it.

Thanks for creating the page.

Good food festival!

Congratulations to the assoc, I had a wonderful time seeing all the happy burmese people (and hungry volunteers).

I've said it before, and I will say it again, Myanmar Association is one of the best organized and most dedicated Myanmar associations worldwide (if not the best)!

But I suggest a better ticket selling system next time, it didn't seem convenient (for the front table ticket sellers) to explain to each customer how the ticket system worked, and how much the average lunch cost. Maybe, a small sign listing available dishes and prices would ease the process a bit.

It would also help to have quality control installed to ensure servings are priced proportionately. After all, these are your very own friends and colleagues who you will have to face next monday at work. You wouldn't want a bunch of angry co-workers talking about you and the association behind your back...

But it was a blast to visit the festival, enjoyed the delicious food. Keep it up, Myanmar Association, NY!
